We stayed here 9-14 Sep 07. This place was fantastic! From checking in to checkout the staff was Excellente! If you are looking for an adults only (no children!) all inclusive resort this is your place. The staff is absolutely fantastic. the resort is clean, and always being cleaned. Yes, it is a long bus ride from the airport . But, once you arrive the world changes. You are greeted with a cool towel and a flute of champagne. Check in is quick and painless. After which your bags appear like magic about the moment you arrive in your room. The Staff is outstanding. I want to mention Roberto, Yosi, Jenni, Victor and Francisco by name. Each one went out of their way to make our stay great. Someone else I would like mention by name is not an Excellence employee, but an employee of Turinter Tours. Bertran went above and beyond for us by getting us transportation to and from a deep sea fishing trip we booked. Transportion from the Excellence was not included (moral of story is to book tours and fishing from the lobby tour operators they are great) and Bertan was able to get the operator to pick us up and return us at no charge. Thanks Bertran! Rooms are very clean and well decorated. the in room refrigerator is all ways stocked. and if you drink beer you will want to try the Presidente and the Bohemia especial beer . The rooms are serviced three times a day. Once for the refrigerator and once for cleaning and to make the bed. And finally for turn down service. The Restaurants are all first class. and the wait staff is great. We really liked the Toscana for breakfast. Any restaurant that you can have breakfast with a grand piano playing in the background has got to be good! Spice, the asian restaurant was notably good. As were Barcelona and The Grill. But all of the restaurants are very very good. Food is never in short supply because if no restaurants are open then you can all ways order room service. If you are ever hungry or thirsty it is not the fault of the Excellence. The Bars are outstanding too. There is a bar for everyone, from the quiet bars at the pool or beach to the very hip disco. The bar in the lobby (not Martini) is great and very convienant to the shows. and speaking of shows. If you have the chance don't miss the 70's/80's review or the Chris Blizzard show. Both of them are great. But all the shows are very good. Over all comments. This is a great hotel. You should book at least 7 nights if you want to come even close to seeing or doing all the resort has to offer. There are so many activities that no matter what you are doing you are missing something else. My wife and I spend about 4-7 nights per month in hotels/motels and nothing the Excellence had any control over could have been any better. One note of caution, If you buy souviniers off the resort be prepared to do some very hard negotiations . Bargain Joe and I had a few very intense moments. Go to the beach and turn right to meet him.
