My husband and I spent 6 nights at Playa Mujeres last month and absolutely loved it! Our room was the regular suite with a pool view. Loved the large balcony with the bed. We actually relaxed there our first night and ended up falling asleep out there! Woke up at 1:30 AM! We still laugh about that! The room was beautiful and couldn't have been any nicer. The only negative comment I had during our entire stay was that there was a VERY strong musty type odor in our room. We noticed it every time we entered our room. It was really awful. We didn't say anything or report it because I had read previous reviews that mentioned this also, so I figured it was just something that was the case here. We burned the incense that was supplied in the room and it helped somewhat. You sort of got used to it after being in there awhile, but every time we would go out and come back in, it was as strong as ever. I just couldn't figure out the cause of this because the room was spotless and extremely clean. We loved each of the restaurants and tried almost every one! We never had a bad meal - the food was delicious! The service was great and the grounds were just beautiful. We especially loved the bali beds by the pool. We were lucky enough to get one of these to relax in every day!! The pool waiter service was so great! We really got to like Raoul - he remembered what our preferences were and always had a smile!! We even had a couples massage at the spa and thoroughly enjoyed that!! We loved this place so much that we never left the resort for anything! My husband even talked me into parasailing right there off the beach at the resort! I was petrified but ended up loving it!! Our time there went by too quickly and it was time to come home. We definitely would like to check out the new Excellence when it opens in Jamaica! (Any idea when that might be??)
