Excellence Resorts Beach Wedding Planner FAQs

Planning a beach wedding?  Find helpful information in our list of Frequently Asked Questions on designing the perfect Caribbean wedding:

How do I reserve my wedding date?

Begin the process by contacting our wedding coordinator with your desired date. The date will be confirmed as soon as your suite accommodations are booked at the Excellence Resort of your choice. We recommend reserving the date six months in advance.

Is a deposit required to reserve our wedding date?

No. We only ask you to book your room. However, you must complete a wedding reservation form so that our wedding coordinator can confirm your ceremony date.

Is a ceremony in the Caribbean considered legal?

Yes, as long as it is performed by a judge of the local country. Your marriage certificate will have a legal stamp as well as the Hague Convention seal, making it legal in other countries. (upon request)

Can I have a symbolic ceremony?

Yes. Many couples get married at home and have a symbolic ceremony performed by a non-denominational minister at our resort. No paperwork is required for this type of ceremony.

How far in advance do I have to arrive for my civil wedding?

You must arrive three business days prior to your ceremony to meet residency requirements for a legal wedding. Both bride and groom must be at the resort by check-in time (3 pm) or earlier in order to consider day of arrival as the first day. Please note that  Saturday and Sunday do not count as a business day.

For a symbolic ceremony, how far in advance do I need to arrive?

We recommend you arrive at least three days prior to your ceremony in order to meet with your wedding coordinator and finalize all the details of your wedding.

Must I pay for my wedding package in advance?

It is not necessary to pay for your wedding in advance. You can pay upon arrival or after your meeting with your wedding coordinator. We accept cash, credit card or Travelers Cheques.

What locations do you have available for a ceremony?

At Excellence Resorts in Cancun, the Riviera Maya and Punta Cana, you can hold your ceremony in a wedding gazebo overlooking the Caribbean or right on the beach.  In addition, individual properties offer more options, such as a private villa in Playa Mujeres, a pier on the Riviera Maya or a garden setting in Punta Cana.
